Malaysia’s best islands – according to CNNGo

CNNGo compiled a list of Malaysia’s top 10 islands, in no particular order. “From the cosmopolitan charm of Penang to the hippie getaway of the Perhentians, Malaysia embraces a diverse array of islands,” the article stated.

Pulau Perhentian: The islands are covered with a lush jungle, swaying palm trees, powdery white beaches, and they are surrounded by sapphire blue waters.

Tioman Island: Snorkelers can swim alongside huge Napoleon Wrasse, Golden Striped Trevally, Bumphead Parrotfish, and shoals of Fusiliers.

Langkawi: It is a cluster of 99 islands with beautiful beaches, world-class infrastructure and mangroves rich in flora and fauna.

Penang: Often referred to as the “Pearl of the Orient,” Penang is one of the most picturesque and romantic cities of the East.

Labuan: The island offers visitors plenty of activities, including wreck diving, sailing, water sports, and even sea snake watching.

Layang-Layang Island: This island is fast becoming another one of Malaysia’s premier dive destinations, after the world-famous Sipadan Island.

Sipadan Island: Jacques Cousteau, a world-renowned oceanographer, described Sipadan Island as an untouched piece of art, while divers around the world voted it as one of the top five dive sites in the world.

Pulau Redang: The largest of a group of nine protected islands dotting the South China Sea, the island offers crystal clear waters and numerous dive sites.
Pulau Rawa: The island is famed for its white coral sand, tall palm trees, coral reefs with neon-colored fish, and other exotic marine life.

Pangkor Island: A local favorite, it has a charming mix of fishing settlements and resorts.
